February 29, 2012 (Wednesday evening) - 7:00PM Location: The Chalet, 18900 Alps in Alpine Forest
Wildlife Rehabilitation Facility for Animal Care and Treatment (FACT) of Cal State University Bakersfield
FACT’S mission is to serve as a wildlife rescue, conservation, & education project for California State University Bakersfield.
FACT is a unique project of Cal State University Bakersfield whose purpose is to promote the conservation of wildlife through the rehabilitation of non-game species of native animals and through educational activities.
The main emphasis of the project is on the rehabilitation of endangered or protected species, particularly birds of prey. Sick or injured animals are treated and retrained so they can be reintroduced into their natural habitat. Some birds require relatively little treatment, while others need extensive medical treatment and prolonged care and training.
Our speaker will bring along at least one bird (most likely an owl) for display.
Directions: Highline or 202 heading west from Tehacahapi, head up Banducci towards Stallion Springs. Follow Banducci past Brite Lake. Alps drive comes up on your left hand side, pull in and chalet is to the left at the top of the hill. Lots of parking.
