Green-tailed Towhees are back!

I was birding up Paradise Valley today and spotted a pair of Green-tailed Towhees at their usual place - by the Norbertine Monastery. Go through the gate past the monastery entrance. Once you're on the dirt road, the lake will be on your right (west). On the left side, there is a large area of low scrub. Scan through there along the tops of the highest brush.

We spent about 2 hours going up the dirt road to the end. Found 43 species including Lazuli Bunting, Western Tanager, Brown Creeper, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Fox Sparrow, Orange-crowned Warbler, Lawrence's Goldfinch, and Golden Eagle. The lake had just about all you can expect in summer - coots, Mallard, Ruddy Duck, Pied-billed Grebe and a Great Blue Heron. However, there were no MacGillivray's Warblers to be found. Hopfully they'll make an appearance for our August field trip.
